What is a men’s hair replacement system and is it worth it?
A hair replacement system is a non-surgical, non-invasive hair loss solution for someone who wants a long-lasting alternative to hair restoration surgery, such as hair transplants. A bonded hair system can be partial or full, depending on your level of hair loss and in the style of your choice.
Is a hair replacement system better than a hair transplant? This is completely down to the individual, but we offer this service to give you a hair loss solution that won’t set you back thousands and without the pain of surgery.

Will it look like I’m wearing a hair piece?
You need not fear that your hair replacement system will look noticeable, we offer a large range of customisable human hair solutions. We also offer excellent synthetic wigs, however we believe that human hair or cyber hair looks most realistic, because it falls, and swings as natural hair does.
Once you get used to wearing the system daily, we can take you on an amazing journey, even allowing you to switch up your style like you would with your own hair.
Rather than an abrupt hairline, our pieces can be lace or PU skin based incorporating a fine layer at the front which allows for tiny hairs to be added, giving the illusion that the hair is growing from the scalp. Our stylists work with your natural hair growth pattern/colour to give you the best option and ensure that any piece will blend in seamlessly.
Does a men’s hair system look natural?
Every men’s hair system needs customising to suit the individual’s looks and lifestyle. It is important to match the density and texture of the hair to achieve a natural undetectable style. Using all our professional tools and experience at our disposal, we can customise and style your hair system to your desire and our aim is provide you with a style that you can easily maintain at home.
How does it feel to wear a hair system?
Men’s hair systems are comfortable to wear. We source the most soft and flexible pieces and they can be made-to-fit. There are different attachment methods used to secure the hair and we can find the one to best suit you and your lifestyle. If you are worried about damaging hair growth under your hair system, be assured that wearing a hair piece will not stop hair growth.
How easy is it to maintain a men’s hair system?
Our support and care doesn’t stop at the supply of your hair replacement system. All hair systems will lose density over time, but you can minimise hair shedding with the right care. We offer excellent aftercare advice and support.
We offer a Wash & Blow dry service to help you maintain your hair system and keep it looking its best and, in turn, maximise its longevity. And we also offer tuition if you would like to maintain the hair piece yourself.
Can I play sports with a hair replacement system?
Yes you can continue to play sports while wearing a hair system! We will help you select the best form of adhesive that will withstand perspiration when exercising. You can even go swimming when wearing a hair system, however excess exposure to chlorine can damage the system, so wearing a swim cap is advisable.
What should you avoid doing when wearing a hair system?
Try not to play around too much with your new piece, whilst it will be tempting to play with your new hair, too much mechanical damage will result in premature hair loss in your piece.
Don’t wash your hair system too frequently as this will resolve in the colour fading. Use a sulphate-free shampoo which is kinder to the hair and will encourage longer lasting colour brilliance.
Can you sleep while wearing a men’s hair system?
The answer is yes you can sleep with a hair system, but there are few things to be aware of. Ideally you will want your hair system to last as long as possible, so to take it off at night would avoid the mechanical damage our hair incurs while we sleep. When sleeping, your head rubs against a cotton pillow creating an excessive amount of friction and hair can be pulled in different directions.
But we understand that you may want to sleep while wearing your hair system. So, consider sleeping on a silk pillowcase which helps avoid friction and undue hair loss from your system.
Can you use heat stylers on your hair piece?
If you have opted for a synthetic hair replacement system, then do not use heated styling tools as they will damage and can even melt the hair! If you wanted to straighten or curl your synthetic hair piece, then depending on the style of the hair piece, the option can be to wet set the hair using luke-warm water and bendy rollers.
Hair dryers, straighteners or curlers can be used on human hair pieces, but best recommended to use them on medium heat so that the hair doesn’t get too dry. We recommend using a good heat protection product such as Rich Repair Serum, to avoid undue damage. Remember to take extra care if you wear a lace-base hair system, as whilst they are the most natural-looking, these tend to be more fragile.
What hair products are best for a men’s hair system?
Joico Moisture Recovery Shampoo & Conditioner
It’s important to use a professional shampoo and conditioner for hydrating and detangling your hair system.
Moisture Recovery Shampoo and conditioner reduces breakage by up to 55%, it intensely nourishes dry hair and adds softness, smoothness, and shine.
How to use:
- Apply a 50 pence size amount of Moisture Recovery Shampoo to wet hair.
- Lather and Rinse.
- Follow with Moisture Recovery Conditioner to mid lengths and ends.
- Leave on for 2-5 minutes.
- Comb through and rinse thoroughly.
Goldwell’s Dualsenses Rich Repair 6 Effects Serum
This serum protects, polishes and seals the cuticle while restoring internal structure, helping to prevent split ends and frizz.
How to Use:
- Using ½ to 3 drops of serum, emulsify in your hands.
- Distribute through damp or dry hair, concentrating on the mid lengths and ends.
- Can also be applied to dry hair to replenish dry locks and smooth fly-aways.
What tools/accessories do I need for my hair system?
Adhesive Tape for Hair Replacement Systems
During your fitting you will be advised which strength of tape is required for your hair system type and your lifestyle. Tapes come in white, red and blue. Although be assured this guide just relates to the backing paper, all tapes are clear for complete discretion. If using tape, we also recommend the ultra-hold mini tabs for use around the lace front especially.
Hair Replacement System Adhesive Glue
During your fitting you will be advised whether glue is the best adhesive for your hair piece or lifestyle.
Hair Replacement System Residue Remover
Whether you use tape or glue, we also advise purchasing a solvent dissolver, that will help remove any residue left on the scalp or your hair system base when you remove your hair system.
Poly Head & Table Clamp
We recommend purchasing a Polystyrene Head and table clamp so that you can store and style your hair piece safely. Secure your hair system to the polystyrene head using a T-pin.
Styling Tools for your Hair System
Always use a gentle brush, such as a Tangle Teaser
To add some texture, you can use bendy rollers safely with warm water & a setting product such as Techni-pli art to hold curls in place.
Satin Pillowcase
We always advise removing your hair system at night, but if you must sleep with it on, then sleeping on a Satin Pillowcase will help maximise the longevity of your hair replacement system, reducing friction.
How long does a men’s hair system last?
Ensuring that you follow the correct aftercare procedure, a hair system can last 3-6 months. After this, it is advised that they are replaced to keep them looking in the best condition.

- Your book in for a fitting session, where we install your hair system and cut your own hair into the hair piece for the finished look.
