This treatment’s main purpose is to change the texture of the hair – rather than straightening curls and waves. Perfect if your issue is actually just with frizz or hard to manage curls. If you still enjoy the ability to both straighten or curl your hair, then this treatment gives you that flexibility. Best of both worlds!

It’s also great for those who are short on time or those who hit the gym regularly, as you’ll find it super quick to blow dry your hair, or better still leave it dry naturally!

 

We know that hair can become frizzy during the humid summer or the drizzly winter, this treatment takes away the worry of turning into Monika from TV show, Friends, shouting ‘It’s the humidity!’ to explain the sudden growth of her usually tame locks.

Basically, if you’re happy with your waves and curls but would love to cut down on frizz (and loosen your texture), a Kerasilk Smoothing Treatment is for you.

What Can You Expect in Your Kerasilk Smoothing Treatment Appointment?

A Kerasilk Smoothing Treatment takes about three hours from start to finish. But this does depend on how long or thick your hair is. Time to be pampered and a great opportunity to have a little self-care me-time!

1. First, your stylist will determine the level of strength your hair type requires and will discuss what level of curl you would like to maintain.
2. Then your hair will be washed with Kerasilk Control Shampoo to remove any build up of product. Then your hair will be blow dried with fingers or Kerasilk Paddle Brush until it’s about 80 % dry. (This is the point where you feel a little bit Hagrid from Harry Potter.)
3. Next your stylist will apply the Kerasilk Keratin formula section-by-section (root to tip)
4. This will be left to process for 15 minutes, either rinsed off for a medium service or left in for an intense service. It is then blow-dried using a specialist Kerasilk brush. Paddle or round brush, depending on whether you have fine-normal or coarse hair.
5. Next it gets a bit steamy! This is the thermal-activation part of the process. Your stylist will use specialist high-temperature Kerasilk flat irons to straighten the hair section-by-section, repeating up to 6 strokes on one section. At this point, your hair will feel dead straight, but this isn’t the finished result.
6. Next your will have a further shampoo to wash out the solution with the respective Kerasilk Control Shampoo and Kerasilk Control Finishing Cream Serum is applied to seal the achieved end result.
7. This next blow dry is super fast, due to the amazing results of this treatment.

Does Kerasilk Straighten Hair?

Whilst this treatment isn’t a straightening treatment, you do have the option to reduce your curl structure. We find that for many clients, curls can be loosened into waves, making hair easier to blow dry or leave dry naturally for a beachy look.

It is important to tell your stylist if you want to keep your curl structure. We understand that not every client wants straight hair. We can advise the best formula and procedure for the client’s wish.

So, Can I Keep My Curls?

Yes you can! There are two strengths of this treatment. Medium eliminates the frizz and maintains the curl and volume. The intense option eliminates frizz and stretches out your curl/wave structure.

For those who have straight hair, the treatment will still eliminate the frizz, fly-aways and stray cowlicks. Think of it as a constant blow dry, but without the salon visit!

 

 

 

Is Kerasilk Treatment Ok to Use on Colour-Treated Hair?

The beauty of the Kerasilk treatment is that it has restorative properties, so it can actually improve the texture and condition of coloured hair to some extent. It is worth noting that the heat process of this treatment can sometimes lift a little of your colour, so it is better to time the treatment before you are due a colour refresh. It is possible to book a semi-permanent colour straight after your treatment, but it’s advisable to wait up to 2 weeks before applying highlights, bleach or semi-permanent colour.

 

How Long Does the Kerasilk Treatment Last?

A Kerasilk Smoothing Treatment lasts 3-5 months, leaving you with manageable frizz-free locks! Results show that with the correct aftercare products, the results have been known to last up to 6 months!

 

Is Kerasilk Good for Your Hair?

Whilst you might want to micro-trim the ends following this thermal-activated treatment, your hair will feel extremely smooth and silky.

• Going forward, it will protect your hair from dryness. As you will find your blow dry time is cut down, or maybe even you prefer to leave air dry, your hair will avoid heat damage and mechanical damage. Leaving your shiny smooth hair to last even longer.

• This treatment generally will make styling easier.

• Your hair won’t react to damp or humid weather.  

• Your treated hair will feel strong and healthy.

• It really does eliminate EVERY bit of frizz. It is extremely effective, and lasts a long time.

How Do I Care for My Kerasilk Treatment?

In the first 24 hours is it advised not to wash your hair, avoid swimming and avoid using a hair bobble to put your hair up, as this can create unwanted kinks. Although, in all likelihood, you will wait as long as possible to wash your hair to make this amazing feeling last!

But the upkeep is super easy! Just continue to use the Kerasilk Control Shampoo and Conditioner (about 3-4 times a week) and let it air dry or blow dry. The Kerasilk home-care is included in the price, to ensure you get the best ongoing results when you leave the salon. It is really important to avoid hair products containing sulfates to ensure you don’t damage this effects of this smoothing treatment.
